INTRO:

In Paul Krugman’s “Confronting Inequality”, an excerpt from his book The Conscience of a Liberal, he claims that social inequality is directly caused by economic inequalities. He states that tax cuts, low minimum wages, the absence of universal healthcare, and the decline of unions has lead to an increased gap between the wealthy and the poor. To support his point, he contradicts opposing claims by using logos, such as statistics, evidence and well organized data tables. He also strengthens his claim using ethos by providing solutions to these issues and using pathos to relate better to his audience.
